Double Page Spread

I think that my double page spread looks quite good as it follows existing music magazine double page spreads with an image of the person the article is about on the left and the text on the right. I think that the text is very easy to read which is good for the reader. With the questions in red and the answers in black it is easy for the reader to see the difference and it also sticks with the colour palette of the magazine. There is also a couple of lines at the beginning of the article to explain what the article is about, this is in bold so that it stands out over the other text. The quote in the top left of the first page, is in a very large font, this makes it stand out over everything else on the page.

I can improve the double page spread by adding more questions in the interview as at the minute there isn't many there, this would give the readers a larger understanding of the artist making the article more enjoyable to read. I also think that the image looks a little stretched, so I would have to resize it in order to make it look better and more professional.

Contents page

I think that my contents page is relatively good, I think this as it looks quite professional as it doesn't overwhelm the reader with colour or text. I also think that the image works well down the left hand side of the page and the text down the right, doing this makes the page look professional and easy to read. The page numbers in red makes them stand out so that the reader knows exactly what page everything is on. The bold headings make it easier for the reader to understand what is on each page without having to look through all the text, then the description is in a smaller text to make the page numbers and headings stand out even more. I think that all of the colours work well with each other and the text that stands out and can be easily read by the audience.

With the contents page I think that I could add some more page numbers and information to the list, because as the minute it doesn't look like there are too many pages, which makes the page look unprofessional, so I will need to add some more pages to make it look better. I also think that I could add a logo of the magazine to the page, this would remind the reader what magazine they are reading.

Cover page

This is the cover page for my magazine, I think that the cover looks quite good. I think that the colours all work well with each other, and I have stuck to the colour palette that I originally stated. From the research that I did I found out that the red, black and white colour palette was the most common, and especially for the genre of my magazine. I think that the colours do work quite well with each other, as all the text can be easily seen, without it becoming overwhelming to the reader. I also think that the  central image works well as well. It isn't too big that it covers the whole page, or too small that it is hard to see. The clothes also work well with the colour scheme as there isn't any colours on the page that are a contrast to each other, and I think that it makes it look good.

Although I do think that I could have added more text to the page as I think that it looks a little bare, and if I was to add more text it would make the page look better and more professional. I wouldn't want to add too much text as this could overwhelm the reader and put them off reading the magazine, so I would only add I little bit more. I also think that I can do a better job of the cutting out of the image, I think that the hood looks quite bad as it is meant to be fury, but the way in which I cut it out it looks kind of blocky which doesn't make the image look as good as it could of. So I think that if I spend more time on cutting the image out it will look better and make the whole page look more professional.

Audience profile

The age of the reader of my magazine will be from about 16 to 24 year olds, this is because they are the people that like the genre of music that my magazine is on, this way they will be more likely to go out and buy the magazine.

The reader of my magazine will likely be studying at college or even have left school and actually have a full time job.

The audience of my magazine will be interested in latest high-street fashion, wear all of the biggest brands. They will also wear the biggest urban street wear fashion. They will have big brand sportswear, all the clothes that they wear will be branded whether it being sportswear or just high-street fashion. They live trendy lifestyles with the clothes that they wear and the kind of things that they have. They will have the latest technology, with their own TV's and laptops, and the best mobile phones.

The reader enjoys listening to hip hop and pop music, such as Tinie Tempah, Bruno Mars, Kanye West, Rihanna. They will listen to music on popular radio station such as Capital fm, they will also download music from the internet or iTunes onto their phones or iPods instead of going out to the shops to buy CD's. They do this as they prefer to have the songs on their phone instead of in physical form.

They spend their time watching TV, going out with their mates to the cinema and out for meals at restaurants in the city. They will also like going to shops such as All saints and Topman, these kind of shops will be in the city which is wear they will go most weekends. They will also like going to festivals, gigs, and big sports events such as a big football/basketball game. They enjoy reading magazines, and they spend time on their phone and laptops on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

They will take part in outer school activities such as football and basketball teams, they will also go to the gym after college about three or four times a week.

Magazine Name

I have decided to call my magazine Draft, I researched into existing magazines and the names that they have, and from this I could see that a lot of the names of music magazines are short and memorable, such as Q, and Vibe. I wanted to stick to this so I thought of some names that were quite short and memorable, but also names that would work well for a music magazine and symbolise something to do with music.

The first name that I came up with was rhythm, I liked this is it worked well for a music magazine and the name sounded quite good, although I decided against using it as it didn't really match the genre of my magazine. I then thought of the name Draft, I liked this as it was a short snappy name that is easy to remember and it could work well as a magazine heading. I then began to think of a reason for the name, the reason why it would be good for a music magazine. I thought that every piece of music starts off with a draft, this linked the name to the music side, so I decided to go with the name Draft.

Media institution

H Bauer is the largest privately owned publisher in Europe, publishing in Germany, France, Spain, Portugal and the United Kingdom. Additionally, Bauer publishes in the United States and Mexico. They have more than 80 influential media brands spanning across a wide range of interests, Bauer has more market leading brands across a wider breadth of markets than any other media owner.

I have chosen to use Bauer as the company to publish my music magazine as they are one of the largest publishing companies in Europe. Bauer is a specialist in publishing in many different markets, so they have the capability to a draw in an audience. As Bauer is such a large company and already publish big music magazines such as Kerrang and Q they would be a great company to publish my magazine as it would be a big name magazine. The price of my magazine would be around £3.50, I have chosen this price as the magazine will be monthly, so due to the amount of content in the magazine the price will have to be quite high, so I decided to choose £3.50. The magazine will be around 150 to 200 pages, again I have a lot of pages due to the fact that it is a monthly magazine, so  a lot of information will be put in the magazine. My magazine will offer something different to the audience and market. The genre of the magazine will make it very popular as it is a cross between the popular genres of pop and hip hop, the magazine will be a cross between Q and VIBE, these are both very popular magazines, and mine will offer something different. My magazine will be distributed the same as other popular magazines, they will be available to buy in book stores, supermarkets, and newsagents. There will also be the option to buy the magazine online using the magazines and the Bauer website.
